The Rev. Faith Fowler, director of Cass Community Social Services in Detroit, was saluted February 27 as the 2018 recipient of the Wade H. McCree Award for the Advancement of Social Justice. The award, named in honor of the late U.S. Court of Appeals judge who later served as Solicitor General of the United States, was presented by the Eastern District of Michigan Chapter of the Federal Bar Association during a luncheon at the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit. Fowler, who has served Cass Community Social Services since 1994, has most recently helped spearhead the development of a tiny home community in northwest Detroit in a long-range effort to aid the homeless. She has been a steady force in promoting economic and educational opportunities for the disadvantaged in Detroit, while also working to combat poverty and discrimination. An alumna of Albion College, Fowler holds master degrees from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and Boston University.
