Keith, a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, is based at the Detroit courthouse.

The committee, one of 20 such committees of the Judicial Conference of the United States, typically meets twice yearly in Washington, D.C., but convened at the Detroit courthouse to personally thank Keith for his service to the panel.

Keith was appointed to the committee in 1996 by the late Chief Justice William Rehnquist and reappointed by current Chief Justice John Roberts. The committee considers matters affecting the judiciary and its officers and fosters the judiciary’s relationships with Congress, the executive branch, media, bar and public.

The Judicial Branch Committee is chaired by Chief U.S. District Judge Rodney Sippel of the Eastern District of Missouri.
