The Taste of Diversity, a biennial event sponsored by the Oakland County Bar Association Membership Committee, will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, October 17 at Great Lakes Culinary Center, 24101 W. Nine Mile Rd. in Southfield. In addition to great food and company, the evening will feature the presentation of two awards — the Leon Hubbard Community Service Award and the Michael K. Memorial Labor Law Symposium
October 17

The 27th annual Bernard Gottfried Memorial Labor Law Symposium will be held from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Thursday, October 17 at Wayne Law, Spencer M. Partrich Auditorium, 471 W. Palmer in Detroit. This year’s luncheon speaker is Detroit Free Press Columnist John Gallagher. The general registration fee is $100. For students, NLRB staff and government employees, the reduced fee is $35. Seating for the luncheon is limited. Late registrants and walk-ins may not be assured a meal. Registration is required by October 14. Parking will be available for $8.50 (credit and debit cards only) in Structure No. 1 on W. Palmer Ave. across from the Law School. • Legal First Responders: Equipping Attorneys to
Empower Human Trafficking Survivors

The “Legal First Responders: Equipping Attorneys to Empower Human Trafficking Survivors” training will be hosted by WMU-Cooley Law School at its Auburn Hills campus on Thursday, October 17, from 8 a.m.–noon. The event is free of charge with the commitment to accept a human trafficking referral on a pro bono basis within one year of the training. The training has been approved by the Michigan Indigent Defense Commission for up to 3.5 hours of credit. Register at https://www.michbar.org/.
