Attorneys to present national webinar covering zoning and land use laws Sept. 24

Detroit-based land use, business, and denominational trust law firm Dalton & Tomich will present a live, interactive webinar on Zoning and Land Laws for Civil Engineers and Professional Surveyors on Thursday, September 24. The all-day session, which runs from 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. with an hour break for lunch, headlines five of the firm’s real estate, land use and zoning attorneys: Daniel P. Dalton, Noel W. Sterett, Larry Opalewski, Alex R. Reuter and Adel Nucho.

Topics covered in the webinar will include: Understanding Land Use Law; The Law of Easements; Boundary Law; Understanding Adverse Possession; Understanding Riparian and Water Rights; Ethical Issues in Land Transactions and Development; and Closing & Review.

Participants will learn how governments regulate land use using comprehensive planning and zoning; how easements are created, used, and terminated; how to identify basic principles of boundary law and evaluate boundary evidence; understand adverse possession and discuss how to defend against adverse possession claims; and review rules for determining land boundaries at the water line and determine access rights to surface waters.

“Understanding zoning and land use laws is critical to developing property,” said Daniel P. Dalton, co-founder of Dalton & Tomich.  “This webinar will cover important matters related to zoning and land use and the laws that govern them and  give civil engineers and professional surveyors a new perspective on their own work in this area.”

Hosted by HalfMoon Education, the webinar is open to the public and may offer some attendees continuing education hours. The cost is $299 for one registration or $199 for three or more registrants from the same company. To register or for more information, please visit the HalfMoon Education website or view the brochure.
