Federal court names Patricia T. Morris magistrate judge

 Chief Judge Gerald E.?Rosen announced that the Court has selected Patricia T. Morris for appointment of United States?Magistrate Judge at Bay City in the Northern Division of the Eastern?District of Michigan. Ms.?Morris is a resident of Gladwin. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and her Juris Doctor from?Thomas?M. Cooley Law School. She is currently a career law clerk for Magistrate Judge Charles E.?Binder in Bay City.


Ms.?Morris was one of five persons nominated by a Court-appointed?Merit Selection Panel from among 52 applicants. The Panel members included Attorneys William A. Brisbois, David H. Fink, Debra A. Freid, Steven J. Jacobs, Jonathan E. Lauderbach, Jamie Hecht Nisidis, Janet?L. Parker, Kenneth R. Sasse and?Michael C. Simoni, as well as non-Attorneys Candace Bales and Andy?Bethune.

Ms.?Morris’s name will be forwarded to the Administrative Office of the United States Courts in Washington, D.C. which will initiate the required background investigations by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Internal Revenue Service. Upon successful completion of those investigations,?Ms. Morris will be sworn in as a Magistrate?Judge and will sit in?Bay?City, Michigan, where she would fill the magistrate judge vacancy created by the upcoming retirement of Magistrate?Judge Charles E. Binder.
