WBA kicks off the year with a celebratory barbeque

The COVID-19 pandemic has taken its toll across the board over the last year plus and bar associations are no exceptions. With the last in-person event on March 11, 2020, the Women’s Bar Association (WBA) has spent the last year plus restructuring their calendar of  events to accommodate a virtual world. As summer 2021 got underway, it appeared an outdoor event could be accomplished. “Family Fun Day is typically an annual staple for the WBA,” President Kristina Bilowus said. ‘We couldn’t host last year due to covid but we’re so excited to be back this year.” On July 10th, past and present board members, students, and their families (including puppies) gathered in Wixom for a low-key grill session of basic barbeque foods. With a playground and an assortment of outdoor toys for children, a cornhole set, and speakers playing summertime tunes, the event allowed for an afternoon of fellowship and reunion of members who haven’t seen each other in over a year. While the organization will continue to monitor CDC guidelines, the WBA is excited to get the year underway and make their presence known.
