Justice Foundation of  West Michigan extends grant application deadline

The Justice Foundation of West Michigan (JFWM), Charitable Arm of the Grand Rapids Bar Association, has extended the deadline for applications for our Spring funding cycle. The Justice Foundation makes grants in varying amounts, up to $5,000.
 Proposed projects or activities should have a nexus within Western Michigan or its surrounding environs and be consistent with the JFWM mission: To serve the West Michigan public and legal community through the funding of programs that promote or provide legal services to the disadvantaged, improve the administration of justice, and educate the public about core democratic values.

Roane joins the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers

Richard A. Roane, a partner with the law firm Warner Norcross &Judd LLP, has joined the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, or IAML.
IAML is a worldwide association of practicing lawyers formed in 1986 to improve the practice of law and administration of justice in the area of divorce and family law. Members of the IAML, which is by invitation only, have been recognized by their peers as the most experienced and skilled family law specialists in their respective countries.
Roane has practiced family law and domestic relations litigation for 25 years, serving as chair of Warner’s Family Law Practice Group. He concentrates his practice in divorce, non-marital domestic relationships, domestic relations mediation and arbitration, child custody and support, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, international divorce and child abduction and return matters.
Active professionally and in the community, Roane is a member of the Institute of Continuing Legal Education Family Law Advisory Board, Collaborative Divorce Professionals of MI and formerly of the board of the Legal Assistance Center.  He is Michigan chapter president and co-chair of the Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Trans-gender/
Alternative Family Com-
mittee of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
Roane has been recognized by Michigan Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America, which named him Grand Rapids  Lawyer of the Year for family law in 2012.
