Grand Rapidians who are “Ready for Hillary” took advantage of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton speaking for the Economic Club of Grand Rapids annual meeting last Monday to send her a message.

As men in formal wear and women dressed to the nines made their way into DeVos Place, a group of about 50 gathered across the street with both pre-printed and handmade signs urging Clinton to run for President in 2016.

Ready for Hillary is a national organization “urging Hillary to run for president while laying the groundwork for her potential candidacy.” Its website, www.readyforhillary.com, boasts endorsements from a number of well-known individuals, including Sen. Claire McCaskill and Michigan’s own former governor Jennifer Granholm, who stated she is “rarin’ to get going on [Clinton’s] campaign.”

Since Ready for Hillary’s official launch on April 2, its Facebook page has received over 239,000 “Likes.”

For her part, Clinton has not yet said yes to running, but she has also not said no. Some politicos speculate that one reason she stepped down as Secretary of State was to start organizing and fund-raising for such a candidacy.
