Capitol Steps comic troupe returns

On February 23, 2017, the legendary comic troupe, The Capitol Steps, will appear at the Justice Foundation of West Michigan Trust's Benefit Dinner, to be held at Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park. The show will feature some of the best comedic sketches, improvisations, and satire from The Capitol Steps‘ vast politically inspired, farcical repertoire.

The group was born in December, 1981 when some staffers for Sen. Charles Percy were planning entertainment for a Christmas party. Their first idea was to stage a nativity play, but in the whole Congress they couldn't find three wise men or a virgin. So, they decided to dig into the headlines of the day, and they created song parodies & skits which conveyed a special brand of satirical humor.

The Capitol Steps are always a laugh-out-loud hit.

Proceeds from this event benefit The Justice Foundation of West Michigan Trust, the charitable arm of the Grand Rapids Bar Association (GRBA). The Foundation serves the community through funding programs that promote or provide legal services to the disadvantaged, improve the administration of justice, and educate the public about core democratic values.

Tickets are $75 for GRBA members or $85 for non-members. All tickets include dinner. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a silent auction. Dinner is served at 7:00 with the performance to follow. Tickets can be purchased by calling 616-454-5550 or online at www.grbar.org/events/EventDetails.aspx?id=891564&group=
