Attorney Marlaine Teahan speaker at ICLE's Trusts Administration seminar

Marlaine C. Teahan, an attorney with Fraser Trebilcock and Chair of the Lansing law firm's Trusts and Estates Department, spoke at ICLE's seminar on the Administration of Trusts Under the Michigan Trust Code, December 6, 2012 at The Inn at St. John's in Plymouth, Mich. She spoke on a Trustee's duty to inform and report to trust beneficiaries. This includes: * The duty to inform * The duty to report * Representation rules * Preparation of accounts * Approval of accounts Teahan practices in the areas of planning and administration of trusts and estates, estate and gift tax, guardianships, and conservatorships. She is a member of the American Bar Association's Taxation Section and Real Property, Trust, and Estate Law Section and the State Bar of Michigan's Taxation Section and Probate and Estate Planning (PEP) Section, where she serves on the council, chairs the Committee on Special Projects and the Committee on Court Rules, Procedures, and Forms, and is a past member of the Michigan Trust Code Committee. Ms. Teahan is also the co-chairperson of the Ingham County Bar Association's Probate and Trust Section and a member and past president of the Greater Lansing Estate Planning Council. In 2006 she completed the Probate and Estate Planning Certificate Program, cosponsored by ICLE and the PEP Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and is now a presenter for part of the program. Also a frequent speaker at other ICLE seminars, Ms. Teahan is the coeditor of ICLE's ''Trust Administration in Michigan'' and a chapter author of ICLE's ''Michigan Estate Planning Handbook'' (2d ed). She was on the faculty of the 2010 Michigan Supreme Court Judicial Conference and is a panelist for the Estates and Protected Individuals Code Q&A website. Annually since 2010, Ms. Teahan has been listed in ''The Best Lawyers in America'' for trusts and estates and designated a Michigan Super Lawyer for estate planning and probate.
