Governor Snyder declares May 1 'Paralegal and Legal Assistant Day' in Michigan

Governor Rick Snyder issued a proclamation declaring Friday, May 1 "Paralegal and Legal Assistant Day" in Michigan to recognize their contributions to Michigan's justice system. Former Governor John Engler established the day in 2000.

The Paralegal/Legal Assistant Section, an affiliate section of the State Bar of Michigan, was established in 1990. Comprising about 450 practicing paralegals and legal assistants, it provides education and news to its members on a regular basis through the Michigan Paralegal Newsletter and monthly Newsblast. Membership in the section is open to qualified legal assistants and to all members of the State Bar of Michigan.

The Section will hold its 25th Anniversary annual meeting and event in conjunction with the State Bar Annual Meeting on October 9, 2015, in Troy.
