Mental Health Court meeting set for Jan. 30

The Honorable James S. Jamo, presiding Judge of the 30th Circuit Court Mental Health Court (MHC) program, will host a stakeholder meeting at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 30, in the Jury Assembly Room, first floor, Veterans Memorial Courthouse at 313 W. Kalamazoo, Lansing.

The MHC program is a specialty court for people who have a significant history of mental health problems who have been convicted of a felony offense in Ingham County.  The program provides intense supervision and treatment coordination over 18 months. Goals are to improve community safety, help participants to develop medical independence through efficient use of community resources, and to reduce incarceration of people with mental illness.

This meeting is an opportunity to learn more about this program and to provide input to guide the direction on how MHC can best serve the community.
