Janssen receives Community Foundation Philanthropy award

Foster Swift attorney, Charley Janssen, was presented with the Community Foundation Philanthropy award, at the 2018 Governor’s Service Awards (GSA) ceremony on June 5. Governor’s Service Awards are given to individuals, businesses and nonprofit organizations, selected for their commitment to volunteerism and philanthropy in their communities.

Janssen, who practices in trusts and estates, estate planning, charitable giving, family owned businesses and succession planning, has been a volunteer, trustee, board chair and major donor to the Capital Region Community Foundation for more than 20 years. He has devoted countless hours to encouraging individuals to support charitable organizations, resulting in gifts to the Community Foundation exceeding $25 million.

A tax-exempt public charity that serves the charitable needs and enhances the quality of life for people in Ingham, Clinton and Eaton counties, the foundation works with donors to meet their charitable goals, supports area nonprofits with grants and coaching and leads innovative projects that drive community growth.

“Charley’s importance to our community goes far beyond his support of the Community Foundation. In fact, he’s been a champion for all charitable giving, positively impacting countless other charitable organizations in the Greater Lansing Region and beyond.” stated Foundation President and CEO, Dennis Fliehman.

“Charley is a committed philanthropic partner, a dedicated community member and a valued friend. His expertise, sound advice and advocacy for charitable giving have been instrumental in making our community a better place to live. We are very pleased to see his good work recognized through this award.”
