Jackson County Prescription Drug Abuse and Heroin Summit held Dec. 5

 The Jackson County Prescription Drug Abuse and Heroin Summit, held Dec. 5 at Jackson College Main Campus, George E. Potter Center, focused on the devastating problem of heroin use in the local community and in particular, the connection and relationship between prescription drugs and heroin. Five panel sessions were offered: Family Impact, Medical Overview, Prevention and Awareness, Law Enforcement and Treatment and Recovery. 

 
The Law Enforcement Panel featured Jackson City Police Chief Matt Heins; Director Mike Jester, Blackman-Leoni Township Department of Public Safety; Jackson County Sheriff Steven Rand; Jerry Jarzynka, Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney; Honorable Susan Beebe, Jackson County Circuit Judge; Kathy Arnold, Supervisor, Jackson County Probation Office, MDOC; and Lt. Dave Cook, Jackson Narcotics Enforcement Team
