Celebrating Black History Month

Jackson's Save Our Youth organization celebrated Black History Month by presenting the 2nd Annual Youth Civil Rights scenario on Feb. 13 at Wilson Academy. Rev. Janice Sweet Fairley portrayed civil rights activist Rosa Parks, Pastor John C. Clemons portrayed Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., along with Dave LaRowe, Miriam Dorsey, Don Tassi, Naomi Clark and Delia Johnson, all members of the Jackson Area Civil Rights Awareness Association, as well as Greg Hardrick, Save Our Youth vice chairman of the board and several other community members and students. Ed Peterson played harmonica while Dave LaRowe, Valerie Toop and Don Tassie performed as the "Be More Kind" trio.
