Attorney Ronald L. Marienfeld II, formerly of Girodat & Marienfeld, PLC, opened his own law firm, Marienfeld Law, PLLC, on May 1 at 404 S. Jackson St. in downtown Jackson.

A plaintiff’s personal injury attorney, Marienfeld represents individuals in all types of injury claims and insurance disputes in courts across Michigan. A member of the Michigan Association of Justice and the Jackson County Bar Association, he works to get clients compensation for medical bills, lost work and other expenses.

He also is the owner of APM Realty, owner of the office building housing the Marienfeld Law Firm, and other firms.  Several projects have taken place to update the building, including remodeling office spaces and conference rooms.

A graduate of Michigan Center High School, Marienfeld joined the U.S. Army for three years, when he had the opportunity to attend the U.S. Military Academy Prep School at Fort Monmouth, N.J., followed by a one-year tour in South Korea. After active duty, he spent three years with the Army National Guard in Jackson. He served in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait during the First Gulf War, code-named Operation Desert Storm.

He earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice, with a minor in psychology, from Jackson Community College, and an undergraduate degree in paralegal studies from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti.

He earned his J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law where he was the chief editor of articles for the law school’s Journal of Medicine and Law.  During his time at MSU Law he also clerked at Church, Kritselis & Wyble in Lansing, a fast-paced plaintiff’s personal injury litigation firm; and then worked as a trial attorney from 2000 to 2007.

In 2007, he left Lansing and returned to Michigan Center to begin his own personal injury practice in Jackson. Joining forces with attorney Rick Girodat, in 2010 the duo formed Girodat & Marienfeld, PLC, which had a very successful run until this year.

Having suffered a serious personal injury over 20 years ago, Marienfeld has a special understanding of what injury victims go through — and enjoys going to bat for clients to get financial resources needed after a serious accident.

For years, he has welcomed the challenge of fighting against the insurance carriers and helping injury victims obtain compensation.

“A serious injury can change a person’s life in ways you can’t imagine,” he says. “Recovery can be a lengthy, painful process, and people may be unable to work or do all the things they did before their injury. The physical pain, financial strain, missed work and medical bills, can cause tremendous anxiety and stress. I want clients to focus on their recovery and putting the pieces of their life together, while I handle their legal issues.”

Marienfeld and his wife Heather have three children, Max, 14, Nick, 12, and Ella, 3.  He enjoys spending time with family, golfing, fishing, snowmobiling and boating, much of this on the Michigan Center chain of lakes and around Jackson County.

Marienfeld can be contacted at (517) 888-5900, marienfeldlaw@comcast.net or at marienfeldlaw@hotmail.com. His legal assistants are Robyn Winneroski and Becky Ostwald.

Frederick (Rick)?W. Girodat II returned to operating as Girodat & Associates as he did prior to the partnership with Marienfeld, and will continue to focus on personal injury litigation. He is in the same location as the firm has had for 25 years, at 404 S. Jackson.
