Each year, Cooley’s Center for Ethics, Service and Professionalism presents the award to a faculty or staff member who has exhibited an outstanding dedication to community service throughout the year.

Nominations are received from students, staff, faculty, community leaders and people whose lives have been touched by a Cooley employee’s actions Winners are selected by a committee comprised of previous winners and members of Cooley’s Professionalism Team.

Citrin was selected for her wide-range of community outreach efforts and for her commitment.

In her role as the EPC staff attorney, Citrin maintains contact and provides service to the seniors of the Oakland County community.  At the same time, she has worked with Cooley’s Service to Soldiers Project, administered and staffed Cooley’s Senior Pro Bono Outreach efforts and volunteers to assist with the Family Law Assistance Project’s intake clinic at the Oakland County Courthouse Library.

Citrin recently ended a year’s worth of service as chair of the Oakland County Bar Association’s Public Service Projects Committee.  In this capacity, she assisted with and presented at the annual OCBA Senior Law Day at the Waterford Senior Center.

In addition, Citrin is involved with Auburn Hills Meals on Wheels and regularly delivers meals on Sundays.

In announcing the honor, school officials added that Citrin often reaches out to fill individual needs as well.

They noted that when Citrin found out that one of the Estate Planning Clinic’s clients was without heat and was burning treated lumber in a fireplace to stay warm, she worked to have the appropriate wood delivered.
