Mock trial benefits CARE House

PHOTO #1: The Auburn Hills campus of Cooley Law School recently hosted a Mock Trial to benefit CARE House of Oakland County. Several Cooley professors donated their time to participate in a trial for all the students. Taking part in the event were (left to right) Cooley Prof. Lewis Langham who served as deputy legal counsel and policy advisor for Governor Granholm, Cooley Prof. Alan Gershel who served the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Detroit for more than 30 years, chief of the Criminal Division; Cooley student Laura DeSanto, president of the Criminal Law Society and event coordinator; Oakland County 46th District Court Judge Bill Richards who served as the Mock Trial’s judge; Sean Ciavattone; Assistant Dean and Prof. Lisa Halushka, a former assistant prosecuting attorney for the Oakland County Prosecutors Office; and Bill Cataldo, current chief of Homicide of the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.

PHOTO #2: Tickets were sold to the Mock Trial and $350 was raised for CARE House of Oakland County. Cooley students benefitted from seeing professional litigators in action.
