The State Bar of Michigan General Practice – Solo and Small Firm Section recently presented a seminar titled “Medical Marijuana: The Current State of the Law” at Ginopolis Bar-B-Q Smokehouse in Farmington Hills. The Michigan legislature pushed through changes to the Michigan Medical Marihuana Law that took effect on April 1 and will affect all of the state’s 131,000 authorized medical marijuana patients and 27,000 registered caregivers. This seminar updated attorneys on these changes, as well as recent developments in legal cases involving medical marijuana. Presenters of the seminar included Matthew R. Abel (left), founder and senior partner at Cannabis Counsel PLC, a Michigan firm devoted entirely to cannabis clients and cases; and William L. Cataldo (right), chief of homicide for the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office who worked previously as a criminal defense attorney and law professor.  Happy to present the speakers at the program was General Practice – Solo and Small Firm Section Chair Elizabeth A. Silverman (center).
