In Command

Retired U.S. Army General David H. Petraeus was the keynote speaker at a lecture this month at Wayne State University. Petraeus, who served as director of the Central Intelligence Agency from 2011-12, addressed the topic, “National Security: How safe are we at home and around the world?” as part of the Forum on Contemporary Issues in Society’s 10th anniversary lecture series titled, “What in the World is Going on?” Petraeus was appointed by President George W. Bush to head multi-national forces in Iraq (2007-08) and later was commander in chief of U.S. Central Command and commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan. A frequent commentator on global security and economic issues, Petraeus is a graduate with distinction from the U.S. Military Academy, and holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University.
