Ninth annual City of the Dead will be held October 13 and 14 at Evergreen Cemetery

Harbor Unitarian Universalist Congregation is bringing back a historical walking tour of Evergreen Cemetery in October. The dates are October 13 from 5-8 pm and October 14 from 2-4 pm. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the event.  Kids under 6 are free.

“The event is held rain or shine with an exception for thunderstorms,” says Anna Eldenbrady, event director.  She also reminds attendees that they can expect a long walk and that the paths can be uneven.

Evergreen Cemetery is home to many of Muskegon's founding families and prominent citizens including Charles Hackley, Thomas Hume and Captain Jonathan Walker.

This year's City of the Dead tour will feature, among others, a young boy who is buried in “Potter's Field;” Mrs. Luella Marsh Bradbury who rests in the mausoleum; and Adelphia Grace Ward, the founder of the Ladies of the Modern Maccabees in 1886.
