Bye Bye, Media

Sometimes it takes a singular event to spark a revolution, The bear has to be poked one too many times and then the bear turns around and has a chat. Whether it’s Pearl Harbor, Hillary calling half the country “deplorable,” Archbishop Ferdinand getting shot, or airplanes taking down towers, there are precise moments when you have to say “Okay, that does it ...”

With any luck, the recent incident at the Lincoln Memorial where a sixteen-year-old kid stood silent while some attention-seeker with a drum attempted to get a reaction might just be that moment. It is undeniably clear now that there is no unbiased media, none. Even the Weather Channel tosses in little side commentary and editorializing on a daily basis.

And newspapers, heck newspapers slit their own throats in 2008, any semblance of “Fair and Impartial” was squashed like a grape. There are two levels of writers at newspapers: Reporters and Columnists, “columnists” being at the top of the food chain, every reporter wants to be a columnist, no columnist wants to be a reporter.

It’s the same with TV and radio, there are reporters and there are commentators. Reporters are supposed to report, that’s it, who, what, where, and when. Period. And the reader is allowed to form their own opinion, if the reader wants to hear different opinions then they go to the columnist.

But those days are long gone. EVERY report now has to have just the slightest twinge of personal input. It’s very insidious and relentless. Want an example? Check how many times TV news anchors or newspaper reporters refer to President Trump as “Mr. Trump,” did you ever hear anyone call President Obama “Mr. Obama?” Ever?

Or how about this little gem from our local paper; “... I am emboldened, however, by the courage of so many, particularly Dr. Ford, in coming forward to challenge the Harvey Feinsteins, Bill Cosbys, Kevin Spaceys, and Brett Kavanaughs of this world.” Is he referring to the Brett Kavanaugh who was completely exonerated by the FBI? The Brett Kavanaugh who did absolutely nothing wrong and even the accusers’ witnesses couldn’t back her up?

That Brett Kavanaugh? But by lumping him in with the other guilty parties it just keeps affirming that he did something wrong, it keeps water on the seed, and this wasn’t written at the height of the hysteria, this was written THREE WEEKS AGO.

Here’s an unbiased headline from the Washington Post referencing President Trump’s visit to the MLK memorial: “On MLK Day, Trump Reminded Black Voters of What They Lost With His Election.” Ya know that show The Walking Dead? Those dead people are old reporters who clawed their way out so they could hunt down and eat the new reporters.

So let’s hope that this kid, a kid who represents everything that the liberal media hates (white, Trump supporting, Pro-life, Christian) becomes the guy with the shopping bag staring down the tank, that he’s the one who exposes today’s media for what they really are. We deserve better from our media and media sources, on both sides, and right now the trust level is sub zero. Until reporters start to actually report and shows like The Today Show stop trying to broil the innocent we’re sunk as a nation. Hopefully this one kid from a small Catholic school in Kentucky will be the spark that leads to the demise of our current disaster we call “the media.” Only then can we hope to ... make America great again.
