Judge grills for record Dine 'n' Donate crowd
A record-breaking 130 people attended Dine 'n' Donate at bd's Mongolian Grill August 9th to support the Oakland Pet Adoption Center's low cost spay/neuter clinic, raising $4,000. The event more than doubled the crowd bd's Mongolian Grill usually sees for a fundraiser.
"What an incredible outcome," said Oakland County Animal Control Supervisor Joanie Toole. "This is really all about the animals. And thanks to our supporters, we can help out a lot of them while working to solve the growing problem of animal overpopulation."
Oakland County Public Services Director Michael Zehnder and Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Shalina Kumar showed their support as surprise guest grillers. Attendees participated in a 50/50 raffle and silent auction for a variety of prizes; but they all were focused on the night's theme--helping prevent animal overpopulation.
With the $4,000 raised, the Oakland Pet Adoption Center anticipates holding their next spay/neuter clinic to low income Oakland County residents in late September.
