Searches scrutinized

The Criminal Law Committee of the Oakland County Bar Association continued its Anatomy of a Criminal Case—Year XIV brown bag lunch lecture series with a look at “Electronic Devices & the Fourth Amendment: Cell Phone, Tablet, and Laptop Searches” on Tuesday, April 17, at the Oakland County Bar Center.

Taking part in the program were (left to right) Kari Melkonian with Oakland County Circuit Court and Paul Stablein of Flood, Lanctot, Connor, & Stablein PLLC.

“This is a presentation dealing with the Fourth Amendment as it relates to computers, cell phones, tablets. . . whether there’s a reasonable expectation of privacy, whether officers need a search warrant or not in order to search those things,” said Stablein.
