Straker Bar provides look at alternative dispute resolution

 The D. Augustus Straker Bar Association hosted a seminar titled “What You Need to Know About Alternative Dispute Resolution” on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the offices of Jaffe, Raitt, Heuer, & Weiss PC in Southfield.

Among those taking part in the evening were (left to right) Rhonda Brazile of the Federal Defender Office; Michael Jackson of Miller, Canfield, Paddock, & Stone PLC; guest speakers Earlene Baggett-Hayes of The Law & Mediation Center PLLC and Antoinette Raheem of the Law & Mediation Offices of Antoinette R. Raheem PC; Shawntane Williams of Williams & Associates Law Firm PLLC; Rasul Raheem, senior VP & assistant general counsel for Bank of America; Shirley Kaigler of Jaffe Raitt; Aaron Burrell of Dickinson Wright PLLC; and Erica Bell, corporate counsel for Behr American Inc.

“We’ll be doing a brief presentation on Alternative Dispute Resolution – some of the benefits; some of the detriments; and some of the ways practitioners here can become arbitrators, mediators, or collaborative practitioners and generally how to make ADR useful for their businesses,” Antoinette Raheem said.
