Man ordered to trial in 1987 double slaying

HOLLAND, Mich. (AP) -- A West Michigan man charged with fatally shooting his sister and brother-in-law in 1987 has been ordered to stand trial. A judge in Holland District Court made the decision last Thursday following testimony that began last Wednesday in the case against 50-year-old Ryan Wyngarden of Zeeland. He is jailed and is due in Circuit Court on March 11. His wife testified last Wednesday that he told her he killed Rick and Gail Brink, in part, because he didn't want his sister to reveal they had a sexual relationship as teenagers. The Brinks were found shot to death in Park Township, southwest of Grand Rapids. Ryan Wyngarden was charged in January. Defense attorney David Hall says some testimony came across as hearsay.
