During the program, retired Judge Steven N. Andrews (left) received the Distinguished Career Achievement Award and retired Judge Dennis C. Drury (right) received the Frances R. Avadenka Memorial Award.
This year’s Pro Bono Awards went to (left to right) Faith S. Stover for Legal Aid and Defender Association Inc. and David L. Harrison for Family Law Assistance Project.

This year’s Distinguished Public Servant Awards recognized Oakland County Assistant Prosecutor John Skrzynski (left) and retired Judge Fred M. Mester whose son David (right) accepted the award on his behalf since the judge was out of town due to a prior engagement with the American Arbitration Association. David Mester explained that his father accepted this award on behalf of all of those who have worked with him on all of the nonprofits which he has had the honor and pleasure to work with such as the Pontiac Alumni Foundation, William Booth Legal Aid Clinic, Common Ground, and Dr. Mark Kruman’s Center for the Study of Citizenship at Wayne State University. These organizations and individuals give up their time, energy, and resources to engage in the missions of their respective organizations and make this a better community. Both David and Judge Mester would like to thank the Oakland County Bar Association, Lisa Stadig Elliott, and Judy Cunningham for this honor.
