Detroit clerk gets prison term in condom killing

DETROIT (AP) -- A Detroit gas station clerk who shot a man to death during a dispute over the price of condoms has received a prison sentence of 4 years, 5 months to 17 years. A Wayne County Circuit Court jury on June 25 found Ibrahim Saleh guilty of manslaughter and possessing a firearm in a felony in the March 10, 2012, slaying of Michael Haynes. A judge issued the sentence last Thursday. Prosecutors say Haynes knocked over several shelves of merchandise in the gas station. Authorities say Saleh entered the merchandise area and shot Haynes in the back as he was leaving the business. Published: Mon, Jul 15, 2013
