Registration open for 16th Annual Heritage Conference
Registration is open for Oakland County's 16th Annual Heritage Conference on Friday, Sept. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Clarkston Union and the Woodshop in downtown Clarkston. The theme is "Managing Success." Registration for the day-long event is $40. It includes a continental breakfast, lunch, sessions and tour, is available at heritageconference.eventbrite.com.
Scott Day of Urban Development Services will provide the keynote address, "Too Successful to Succeed." Day will share success stories from all aspects of American life: from the environment and recreational activities to community planning, historic preservation and revitalization to small downtown businesses. He will discuss managing success and the ingredients of building sustainable organizations.
Sessions include: managing the success of the highest quality trout stream in Southeast Michigan; the world's largest one-day automotive event, the Woodward Dream Cruise; the popular Flint Farmers Market; events at the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm; handling traffic congestion through technology and innovation; and maintaining the vision along the Sashabaw Road Corridor. Walking tours include Clarkston's haunted history and Clarkston's historic connection with Henry Ford.
The conference brings together individuals from various backgrounds, who deal with the built and natural environment, to discuss ways to improve their communities. The conference attracts nearly 200 local and regional governmental staff, elected officials, developers, architects, realtors, consultants, and small business owners as well as representatives from environmental and historical interests.
