Commissioner to honor retired Judge Drury

On Thursday, Aug. 29, beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Oakland County Board of Commissioners’ Auditorium, Oakland County Commissioner Mike Bosnic will honor retired Judge Dennis Drury to celebrate his 29-year career on the bench and his service to the community.

In 1984, Drury was appointed by Governor Jim Blanchard to be an Oakland County 52-4 District Court judge where he became chief judge serving for 8 years. The Michigan Supreme Court appointed him to the Oakland County Circuit Court in 1996, where he served honorably as the “Drug Judge” in drug court and offered unconventional approaches to rehabilitation which inspired him to create the Drug Therapy Court in 2001.

“It was truly an honor to work with Judge Drury, both as an attorney and as a team member of his innovative Drug Treatment Court program. He worked tirelessly, both on the bench and with community organizations, to make Troy and Clawson better places to live, work and raise a family. His career will serve as a model for judges in Oakland County,” stated Bosnic.

Drury has received numerous awards for his outstanding service and is admired by his peers for his exemplary work.  He continues to share his professional expertise by currently working at the American Settlement Centers (ASC) where he mediates and arbitrates a variety of disputes. Drury also participates in mock trial exercises for ASC clients where he offers insight on trial strategy and persuasive argument.
