Veterans honored at ceremony

The Veterans Committee of the Oakland County Bar Association conducted the 2013 Veterans Day Commemoration Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 8, at the Oakland County Commissioners Auditorium in Pontiac.

Among the participants in the ceremony were (left to right) Bloomfield Hills attorney Michael Schloff, captain, USMC; Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Michael Warren; guest speaker Harry Stewart, lieutenant colonel, U.S. Army, a World War II company pilot with the Tuskegee Airmen “Red Tails”; retired Judge Fred Mester, captain, U.S. Army; and Jay Cunnigham, lieutenant, U.S. Navy, with Williams, Williams, Rattner, & Plunkett PC.

“This is our second annual Veterans Day commemorative ceremony here in Oakland County,” Schloff said.  “We’re here to pay honor and homage to our military veterans from World War II right to the present time.”

The event also featured the posting of colors by Huron Valley AMVETS Post 2006 Color Guard, an a capella performance by Men of Grace from Grace Gospel Fellowship, and the appearance of local politicians and dignitaries.
