During the President’s Reception at the Barristers’ Ball, WBA President Ronda Tate (left) presented awards to this year’s honorees including U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Damon J. Keith (right) who received the WBA Living Legacy Award.
The WBA Michelle Miller Access to Justice Award was presented posthumously to Chokwe Lumumba. Accepting the award on his behalf was Lumumba’s brother Lucien Taliaferro (right).
Faye Alexander Nelson (left) received the WBA Renaissance Award.
The Chance for Life Organization was honored with the WBA Community Impact Award. Accepting the award was Thomas Adams (left), founder and president of Chance for Life Organization.
Also during the evening, the WBA presented scholarships to area law students. Judge Keith (third from left), WBA President Tate (third from right), and Scholarship Committee Co-Chair Traci Kemp Brocks (second from right) were happy congratulate scholarship recipients (left to right) Alex Bowman, Hope Campbell, and Randall Tatem.
Dickinson Wright PLLC hosted a private cocktail reception at MotorCity Casino prior to the Barristers’ Ball. Among those gathering before the main event were (left to right) Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Charles Hegarty, Kathleen Hegarty, Tony Jenkins, Bonnie George Rombach, Tom Rombach, and Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Kurtis Wilder.
The Wolverine Bar Association (WBA) hosted its 53rd Annual Barristers’ Ball on Saturday, April 12, at the MotorCity Casino Hotel Grand Ballroom in Detroit.
