Honigman, Miller, Schwartz, and Cohn LLP recently launched its Michigan Environmental Law Blog to focus on trends and developments that impact business. Newsworthy topics include the importance of reading Phase I environmental site assessment reports with a critical eye; an analysis of the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality’s (MDEQ) denial of a permit for a petroleum coke (pet coke) storage facility; and information regarding the property tax consequences of current environmental laws.

Honigman’s Environmental Practice Group is well known for its technical knowledge, contributions to environmental case law and literature, participation in legal scholarship and industry associations. They have established themselves as thought leaders through their work with professional environmental organizations and with committees created by the state of Michigan to address regulatory issues. The blog contributors have experience in air quality, environmental compliance, due care and remediation, hazardous waste, sediment remediation, wetlands and natural resources protection, economic development and other redevelopment incentives, solid waste and water discharge.
