Man gets 25-77 years for 1987 Pontiac murder

PONTIAC (AP) - A Pontiac man arrested last year after police got a tip about an unsolved 1987 gun slaying has been sentenced to 25 to 77 years in prison.

Forty-five-year-old Robert D. Simpson pleaded guilty last month to a reduced charge of second-degree murder and admitted killing Isiah Turner. The body of the 33-year-old was found Nov. 15, 1987 at Pontiac's Kiwanis Park.

He'd been shot multiple times.

A tip to police led authorities to file first-degree murder and firearms charges against Simpson.
