Local Halloween event encourages festive horses
PONTIAC (AP) - The Proud Lake Trail Riders Association is hosting a Halloween event that encourages partner costumes for attendants and their horses.
The group's Halloween Spooktacular features a costume contest, games, a potluck lunch, a raffle and optional camping. Last year's first place costume contest winner dressed as a zookeeper and transformed her horse into a giraffe. Another noteworthy costume was Little Bo Peep with a horse dressed up as a sheep.
The Oakland Press of Pontiac reports the event takes place Saturday morning at Proud Lake Recreation Area in Commerce Township. Admission is $8 per rider or $12 per family. Camping is available on Friday and Saturday for $17 per night.
