PHOTO #1: On Wednesday, May 6, Angela Hettinger (center), Foster Care Specialist for the Oakland County Department of Human Services, was recognized by the Oakland County Board of Commissioners and CARE House for her outstanding efforts on behalf of local foster children and their families. Hettinger received a “Circle of Light Award” from CARE House.  Congratulating Hettinger were (left to right) CARE House Executive Director Patricia Rosen, Commissioner Shelley Goodman Taub, CARE House Board President Kathleen Trott, and Commissioner David E.S. Bowman.  It is the mission of CARE House and its community partners to advocate for the safety of all children.  Other recipients of recognition by the Oakland County Board of Commissioners and an award from CARE House included: Ayana Knox-Potts—CARE House “Circle of Light Award”; Bessie & Lavern Burton—CARE House “Honorable Joan E. Young Award for Foster Parents of the Year”; and Angela and Scott Munroe—CARE House “Honorable Joan E. Young Award for Foster Parents of the Year.”

PHOTO #2: Also on Wednesday, May 6, the Oakland County Board Commissioners recognized Oakland County Community & Home Improvement Division Housing Counselor Lon Shook (center) and Oakland County Community & Home Improvement Supervisor and Housing Counselor Kathy Williams (second from right) for being selected by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority as the 2015 and 2014 Housing Counselors of the Year. Happy to recognize the two at a board meeting in the Commissioners Auditorium in Pontiac were (left to right) Oakland County Board Chairman Michael J. Gingell, and Oakland County Commissioners Shelley Goodman Taub and Wade Fleming.
