Judge won't order Flint to take water from Detroit

FLINT (AP) - A judge has turned down a request to order Flint to resume drawing water from the Detroit system.

Federal Judge Stephen Murphy says arguments made by a group called the Coalition for Clean Water are "completely undeveloped." He says he can't determine the group's legal theory or even whether he has the power to intervene.

Murphy signed a two-page order Tuesday rejecting an injunction.

Flint officials say water from the Flint River is safe, despite complaints about smell, taste and appearance. The city cut ties last year with Detroit's system and is building a pipeline to Lake Huron.
