'Raising Capital in Michigan' focus of seminar in Dearborn

Any entrepreneurs interested in knowing more about available options for raising capital and other issues important to the success of a new business should plan to attend a free seminar on Wednesday, October 21, at Henry Ford College in Dearborn.

The seminar, "Understanding Your Options for Raising Capital in Michigan," will give information on how to raise capital in Michigan.

Attendees will learn about legal and structural basics; key formation and other often overlooked issues; private offerings using regulation D or intrastate exemptions (504/SCOR, 504/202(1)(n) and 201(g)); Michigan intrastate crowdfunding; crafting a winning investor pitch; venture capital; long-term planning for a potential IPO; protecting yourself from arbitration, civil litigation and potential criminal liability; and more.

The event is free and is being offered by the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Corporations, Securities & Commercial Licensing Bureau.

The event will be conducted Wednesday, October 21, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Henry Ford College Forfa Auditorium, 5101 Evergreen Road in Dearborn. There will be no charge for parking or admission to the seminar. A continental breakfast and boxed lunch will be provided.
