Western Michigan University Cooley Law School’s Auburn Hills campus hosted the Fifth Annual Interfaith Dinner and panel discussion on Tuesday, Oct. 20. The event was hosted by the Jewish Law Students Association, the Muslim Legal Society, and the Christian Legal Society.  Each student organization invited two panelists.  One of the more memorable questions the student organization leaders asked the panel was “Does your faith make you a better legal practitioner?”  Each of the panelists touched upon the basic tenets of their faith and explained how their beliefs are complimentary to the universal precepts of the rule of law.  Among those taking part in the discussion were (front row, left to right) Ambereen Ahmed of Ambereen Ahmed Law Offices, Brenda Walker, WMU-Cooley Associate Dean Joan Vestrand, Shari Lesnick of WMU-Cooley, Muskan Ali, and WMU-Cooley Prof. Tammy Asher; along with (middle row, left to right) Ellie Mosko of Mosko Law PC, Veronica Leontyeva, Antoinette Porter of DTE Energy, Robert Unatin, and Deirdre Armstrong; in addition to (back row, left to right) Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Karen Braxton, Steven Cohen of Cohen, Lerner, & Rabinovitz; WMU-Cooley Associate Dean Charles Toy; and Muneeb Sadiq.  “It was inspiring to see the bond between all our students and their collective commitment to fostering a continuing dialog on this topic,” said Vestrand.
