The Macomb County Bar Foundation last month hosted a mock trial on whether President Harry S. Truman was justified in dropping the atomic bomb on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagaski during World War II. The audience at the event, held at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts, acted as the jury and decided the trial’s outcome. Participants in the event included (left to right) Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham; David Griem, criminal defense attorney; Macomb County Probate Court Judge Carl Marlinga; Dr. Casandra Ulbrich, Macomb Community College vice president; Mickey Switalski, treasurer of the city of Roseville and a former state senator; retired Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Antonio Viviano; Todd Woodcox, St. Clair Shores chief of police; retired Macomb County Circuit Court Judge James Biernat Sr.; Douglas Forrester, William Tyndale College emeritus professor of history; and Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Michael Warren.
