Students welcomed for Youth in Government Day

On Monday, April 25, Oakland County Board of Commissioners welcomed 10th-12th grade high school students from the communities of  Birmingham, Clarkston, Ferndale, Farmington, Milford, Oak Park, Oxford, Pontiac, Royal Oak, Southfield, Walled Lake, and White Lake for the 2016 Youth in Government Day at the Oakland County Courthouse in Pontiac.  Welcoming the students in the Board of Commissioners’ Auditorium was Board Vice Chairman Michael Spisz (right).  In recognition of National County Government Month and this year’s theme “Safe and Secure Counties,” Oakland County highlighted water-related services. Students were given a brief presentation by the Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash, the Oakland County Health and Human Services Director George Miller, and Great Lakes Water Authority Chair/ Oakland County Deputy Executive Robert Daddow.  Students also met Oakland County commissioners, Oakland County Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard, Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper, Oakland County Clerk Lisa Brown, Oakland County Treasurer Andy Meisner, Oakland County Circuit Court Chief Judge Nanci J. Grant, and Circuit Court Judge Lisa Gorcyca.
