Wayne Law commencement honors 144

Wayne State University Law School’s 2016 Commencement ceremony on Monday, May 16, honored 144 recipients of degrees for December 2015 and candidates for degrees in May 2016 and August 2016. Students eligible to participate in the ceremony included 133 for juris doctor degrees and 11 for master of laws degrees. The ceremony was in the Detroit Opera House.  U.S. Solicitor General Donald B. Verrilli Jr. (third form right) delivered the commencement address. WSU awarded Verrilli an honorary doctor of laws degree in recognition of his distinguished legal career and outstanding contributions in constitutional law. Also speaking were (left to right) WSU President M. Roy Wilson; Marilyn Kelly, Wayne Law class of 1971, member of the WSU Board of Governors; Wayne Law Dean Jocelyn Benson; and Elizabeth A. Cacevic (not pictured), president of the Wayne Law Student Bar Association Board of Governors. Also on hand for the commencement were WSU Provost Margaret Winters (second from right) and Sandra Hughes O’Brien (far right), member of the WSU Board of Governors.
