Two non-profit groups dedicated to supporting Veterans’ Treatment Courts in Macomb and Oakland counties recently welcomed a financial boost to help them with their work. During an August 16 ceremony at Summit Place Kia in Clinton Township, LaLonde Charities presented a $140,000 check to benefit Friends of the Macomb County Veterans’ Treatment Court and Friends of the North Oakland Veterans’ Treatment Court. Richard LaLonde (far left, PHOTO #1), owner of Summit Place Kia, was among the local officials and supporters of the program who spoke at the ceremony. He is pictured with (left to right) brother David LaLonde; Patrick Kittle, Independence Township supervisor and president of the Friends of the North Oakland Veterans’ Treatment Court; and Gail Pamukov Miller, president of the Friends of the Macomb County Veterans’ Treatment Court.

Among those on hand for the August 16 presentation was Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Mark Switalski (PHOTO #2), who along with 41B District Court Judge Carrie Fuca preside over treatment court operations in Macomb County. The funds will be split among the two groups that are dedicated to increasing awareness about the needs of veterans involved in the treatment courts and helping their respective courts with costs not covered by other funding.
