Kenyetta Stanford Jones takes the oath of office as administered by U.S. District Judge Linda Parker during a February 9 investiture ceremony at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Building in Detroit (photo #1). Jones, who was elected in November to a seat on the Wayne County 36th District Court, was lauded at the ceremony by Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, and 36th District Court Judge Kevin Robbins, among others. An assistant prosecutor in Wayne County for the past 12 years, Jones earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota and her law degree from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. She and her husband, David, an attorney in Detroit, have two young daughters. Judge Jones is pictured in the photo #2 with (left to right) her husband, Prosecutor Worthy, and Mayor Duggan.
