On Wednesday, July 19, Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson presented the county’s 3-year balanced budget recommendation for fiscal years 2018-2020 at the Oakland County Board of Commissioner’s meeting in Pontiac. The board will continue its focus on fiscal matters during budget hearings with individual county departments on Aug. 3, 17, and 31. These meetings are open to the public and will be held in Committee Room A at 1200 N. Telegraph Road (Courthouse Building 12E) in Pontiac. PHOTO #2: Also during the July 19 meeting, Oakland County Board of Commissioners Chair Michael Gingell (left) presented a proclamation to Oakland County Deputy County Executive and CIO Phil Bertolini (right) who was recently chosen for induction into the 2017 CIO Hall of Fame. He was selected by alumni of the CIO Hall of Fame in honor of his remarkable accomplishments in, and influence on, the field of IT. Bertolini began his career with Oakland County in 1988 with the Equalization Division before going on to serve as the county’s director of Information Technology. In 2005, Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson appointed him as deputy county executive and CIO.
PHOTO #3: In addition, Gingell (left) presented a proclamation to David VanderVeen (right), Oakland County’s director of central services who oversees the county’s three airports. VanderVeen was recently inducted by the Michigan Aviation Hall of Fame (MAHF) into its 2017 class of honorees. The MAHF recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to aviation and the advancement of aviation and space. VanderVeen serves as the vice chair of the Michigan Aeronautics Commission, serves on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Business Aviation Association, is a member of the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission, is an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) with the American Association of Airport Executives, and is a past president of the Michigan Association of Airport Executives.
