'Appointed Attorney Training' offered Sept. 25

The Oakland County Bar Association will present “Probate Court: Appointed Attorney Training” on Monday, Sept. 25, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the OCBA offices, 1760 South Telegraph Road, Suite 100, in Bloomfield Hills.

This training will provide basic information on fulfilling the requirements of attorney appointments through the Oakland County Probate Court. Topics of discussion will include:

• An overview of guardianships and conservatorships.

• Duties of defense attorneys and guardians ad litem.

• The appointment process.

• The mental health hearing process.

• Assessment guidelines.

• Working with mental health services and providers.

• Practical practice tips.

A roster of attendees will be forwarded to the Oakland County Probate Court judges.

Fees (including reference materials, lights snacks and beverages) are:

$95 for OCBA members
$65 for OCBA new lawyers (75866 )
$140 for all non-members

—At the Door
$120 for OCBA members
$85 for  OCBA new lawyers (P75866 )
$175 for all non-members
