Thirty-two development opportunities featured Friday

Oakland County One Stop Ready Community Showcase begins at 8 a.m.

Investors, bankers or brokers can learn about 32 development-ready opportunities available in 18 Oakland County communities at the 2017 One Stop Ready Showcase.

The properties, which include downtown sites in Auburn Hills, Oxford, Pontiac, and Royal Oak; a former Barnes & Noble location in West Bloomfield Township and a former Super Kmart site in Madison Heights, are among those ready for development.

The showcase begins Friday at 8 a.m. in the Oakland Schools Auditorium, 2111 Pontiac Lake Road, in Waterford. It is open to the public and there is no cost to attend but registration is required at AdvantageOakland.Eventbrite.com.

“Investors will learn the advantages of partnering with a One Stop Ready community,” Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said.

“There are wonderful development opportunities available in some prime locations in the county. They include some of our downtowns and bustling special district corridors. Connecting with our One Stop Ready communities gets your project on schedule which saves you time and money.”

Patterson created the One Stop Ready program in 2013 to help communities embrace and streamline strategies that encourage economic development to implement a community’s vision. It provides resources, tools and training necessary to capitalize on community strengths while focusing on alignment between boards and commissions. It makes the development process more efficient through a customer-friendly, solutions-oriented approach to economic development.

Lenderful CEO Mark Hillman and co-founder of MadDog Technology, is the keynote speaker. He will discuss the importance of a government and business partnership approach to economic development. Representatives from three communities also will discuss best practices and their economic impact.

Representatives from One Stop Ready community will be available to discuss their ready-to-go development opportunities.

The communities are: Auburn Hills, Clawson, Farmington Hills, Groveland Township, Hazel Park, Highland Township, Independence Township, Lyon Township, Madison Heights, Oak Park, Orchard Lake, Orion Township, Oxford, Oxford Township, Pontiac, Royal Oak, Southfield, Troy, Waterford Township, West Bloomfield Township, White Lake Township, and Wixom.

This is the third year for the event. Eighteen properties were featured in 2015 and 29 in 2016.
