Free seminar held in Troy presented by Probate Court

On Thursday, May 3, the Oakland County Probate Court, sponsored by the Citizens Alliance for the Oakland County Probate and Circuit Courts, will be conducting a free seminar titled “Removing the Mysteries of Probate Court” in conjunction with the Troy Community Center from 1 to 3 p.m.  This program is designed to enlighten and educate senior citizens and their families so that they may make informed decisions regarding their estate planning and understand the probate process.  The Troy Community Center is located at 3179 Livernois in Troy.

The seminar will include topics such as wills, trusts, and powers of attorney, and will provide useful information on how to begin probate proceedings, when to consider use of guardianships and conservatorships, and how “avoiding probate” could cause more harm than good.

Panelists will include Jill Koney Daly, retired Oakland County probate register and attorney with Chalgian and Tripp Law Offices in Southfield; and attorney Scott Robbins with Baron, Rosenberg, Mayoras, & Mayoras PC in Troy.  Materials will be available and adequate time will be available for questions.

To register for this free seminar, contact the Troy Community Center at 248-524-3484.  The “Removing the Mysteries of Probate Court” seminar, developed by the Citizens Alliance for the Probate and Circuit Courts, has reached thousands of citizens over the past 20+ years.  For information regarding other dates and locations for this seminar, contact Karen Koshen, court resource and program specialist for the Oakland County Circuit and Probate Courts, at 248-858-0296 or koshenk@oakgov.com.
