'Corporate Compliance in Age of Cryptocurrency' offered by OCBA, Oct. 9

The Oakland County Bar Association will present “Corporate Compliance in the Age of Cryptocurrency” on Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the OCBA?offices, 1760 South Telegraph Road, Suite 100, in Bloomfield Hills.

This seminar will provide an analysis of the intersection between current business laws and the burgeoning cryptocurrency landscape.

Speakers will include Patrick E. Corbett of the U.S. Attorneys Office, Eastern District of Michigan; John Gleeson of Storj Labs; and Michael P. Hindelang of Honigman, Miller, Schwartz, and Cohn LLP.  They will explore the development of digital technology and procedures for following corporate and criminal law. Topics of discussion will include:

• The background and business perspective on blockchain.
• Cryptocurrency and decentralized applications.
• Corporate law compliance.
• Cryptocurrency and the tax code.
• Criminal and law enforcement implications of this new technology.
