'New Arraignment Proceedings'

The Oakland County Bar Association presented “The New Arraignment Proceedings under MIDC” on Friday, Feb. 8, at the OCBA offices in Bloomfield Hills. Presenting at the program were (left to right) Sergeant Donald Gracey Jr., booking operations administrator, Corrective Services Division, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office; Barb Hankey, manager, Oakland County Community Corrections; Mary Ann Jerge, assistant corporation counsel, Oakland County Corporation Counsel’s Office; and Randy Secontine, Law Offices of J. Randall Secontine PLLC. The new Michigan Indigent Defense Commission standards mandate continual representation by counsel at every court appearance throughout an indigent defendant’s case, including arraignment. Attendees learned about Oakland County’s Circuit and district court plan to fulfill these mandates.
